Cancel save vs win-back
Cancel save catches intent before the subscription ends. Win-back targets subscribers who already churned. Mixing them wastes offers and annoys users.
Cancel save (intercept)
Run in-app when the user taps cancel inside your product. Offers: pause, downgrade, discount—matched to churn reason from a one-question survey.
Email follow-up within 48 hours only if they still proceed to store cancellation.
Win-back
Trigger on EXPIRATION or lapse after a cooling period. Reactivation offers should auto-expire. Email reaches dormant users; in-app catches return visits.
RevenueCat reports 12%+ of churned monthly subscribers re-subscribe within 12 months. Win-back in the first 30 days with a clear offer can lift those odds.
How they stack
Configure cancel intercept first—it protects MRR at peak intent. Add win-back for subscribers who slipped through. RedChurn runs both from the same RevenueCat webhook with separate dashboards per flow.
